(32 minutes) A conversation across four generations, among five
members of a family, all residents of a cemetery in rural Texas. Taking
Our Town in a new direction, Voices focuses on Martha, the
tyrannical, ninety-seven year old matriarch of a Texas family, born in the
1860s, and how she deals with the two most recent arrivals at the cemetery:
Cole, a relatively young, gay victim of AIDS and Peggy, her seventy-five
year old, oft-married, spirited and rather bohemian granddaughter.

Dia McDonald This play was a "Best of the Fest" selection in FronteraFest 2006. In November 2006 it ran for three weeks in New York City as part of Emerging Artists Theatre's Fall Festival of Short Plays. Nominated by Emerging Artists as part of a nation-wide competition among producing theatres, it returned to New York City in 2007 for the Samuel French, Inc. Festival of Off Off-Broadway One Act Plays. A ten minute version of the last scene of this play, titled ...last and always, was a finalist for the San Luis Obispo Little Theatre's 2008 Festival of Ten Minute Plays and was produced by NativeAliens Theatre Collective as part of their Short Stories 10 program during 2009's Gay Pride Festival in New York City.
